This is where it all started. While we love all of our kids equally, we’ll give our first recipe its well-deserved spotlight. Actually, this one is our favorite— please don’t tell the others. When we first started, we brewed our tea in pillowcases and filled each bottle by hand. We've grown since then, but we're still inspired by Clayton's granny, Mimi, who taught us never to use ingredients we can't pronounce. We hope you have as much fun drinking our tea as we have making it.

Sweet Leaf Tea, Original Sweet Tea (Diet), 64-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 8)

Sweet Leaf Tea, Original Sweet Tea (Diet), 64-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 8) Review

Sweet Leaf Tea, Original Sweet Tea (Diet), 64-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 8) Feature

  • Pack of eight, 64-ounces per bottle (total of 512 ounces)
  • Premium black tea
  • Brewed with a touch of sweetness
The idea for Sweet Leaf Tea was born in 1977 while Clayton was living on a sailboat in the Florida Keys. He wanted to make a ready-to-drink bottled tea that tasted as good as the homemade iced tea that his grandmother Mimi used to make. Granny’s recipe called for premium tea leaves and pure cane sugar. Following her instructions, the first big batches of Sweet Leaf Tea were brewed in Beaumont, Texas using pillowcases as tea bags and crawfish pots for brew tanks. A year after Clayton officially started Sweet Leaf Tea, he was joined by his best friend since childhood, David. They used garden hoses to fill the bottles, a handheld drill to put on caps, and applied the labels by hand. Our first ACL was a huge success in 2002. We sold nearly 10,000 bottles of tea and had blisters on our hands by the end of the 3 day festival. Sweet Leaf Tea moved headquarters to Austin, TX where Clayton and David went to college.
